Workaround(s)
When you create a software RAID-1 array with two or more partitions and this array needs to be resynchronized (for example, because of an unclean shutdown), Windows will synchronize all partitions at the same time.

This causes permanent hard drive head movement between distant points on the drive, amounting to a hard drive stress test. The resynchronization also takes much longer.

Please provide a justification for why you think this new feature should be added to Windows Server 2008.
Without this feature, resynchronization will take more than a magnitude longer than it has to.
For example, my system kept resynchronizing the two partitions for over an hour before I "resynchronized" the array myself in 5 minutes by backing up what little data was on the partitions and then destroying & recreating the array.
