The .NET Micro Framework is an innovative development and execution environment for resource-constrained devices. Its fully integrated Visual Studio experience, brings a reliable and productive development environment to the embedded world. 

Platform
    - Runs native on HW or process on another OS 
    - Platform can run with as little as 64K RAM 
    - No MMU requirement 
    - Support for ARM, Analog Devices, Marvell, 
      Freescale, Atmel, and NXP processors

Development Environment
    - Managed code environment (including drivers)
    - Native code interoperability 
    - TCP/IP (with SSL), Wi-Fi, and DPWS support 
    - High-level graphics like touch screen, gesture,
      animation, and font generation tools 
    - File system 
    - USB device support 
    - Symmetric and asymmetric encryption libraries
