I received Windows Live OneCare when I bought QWest DSL last week (10/15/2009). I installed it, and first thing it made me do was uninstall my existing anti-virus program -- I was using "avast!". That was annoying, but I went along with it.

Then this week I tried using the "Backup and Restore" feature. What a piece of junk. First the software wanted to convert my external Hard drive to NTFS. I said ok, so the software chunked along for a while then failed complaining that it could not convert the drive. Now the program won't let me move beyond this 'problem' even though the dialog boxes and help screens say or imply that NTFS is not mandatory and that I should be able to go along with FAT32. Second, I found a number of typos or misleading directions in the documentation or on the dialog boxes of the software. On top of that the program is slow to react -- at times I think the software is locked up... the overall usability and user feedback on the interface is very poor. I use and have used other backup programs like Carbonite, and NovaStor which have much friendlier and workable user interfaces- the authors of this software should spend time to study these usable products, and emulate their ease of use. Additionally the test/debug department should spend a lot more time testing the software under various platforms. For example I am using Windows XP... makes me wonder if they tested it with my OS.

After reading about other people having problems with the antivirus program, I am removing this lame software immediately. What a frustrating experience!

One final annoyance. As I was filling out this complaint, the web form asked me for the version of my OneCare. I have 2.5.2900.28. The dumb dialog box on this web form doesn't even have this version, even though it's the latest.
