User(s) can reproduce this bug
When I am taking notes on paper, I often draw an outline round key sections. In OneNote, text and graphics are ALREADY surrounded by a container that appears when hovered over.

It would be great if ON allowed users to format this container so that key collections of text and/or graphics could be neatly highlighted.

As a minimum, the formatting should allow a permanent border and a change of background colour (maintaining some level of transparency?).

Additional formatting might include a background image and further control of transparency.

This should be relatively straight-forwards as they could all be accommodated by straight HTML.

IMHO an *option* of showing the birders of a cinatines would be really useful.

I agree. I would like to see the container borders all the time. It's very frustrating trying to work with pages that have a lot of little notes, each in a separate container, but I can't see the borders. Either that, or have a way to colorize the container backgrounds.

Oops, sorry, posted this as a bug instead of a suggestion - may be a Freudian slip?

I've reposted as Suggestion ID 420593.

This would be very useful. I have spent over an hour looking for this option which should already exist.

I was amazed at the OneNote product but could not understand why a simple thing such as giving the user the option to select "show borders" around the container objects all of the time. When a person is taking notes, they do not want to have to take additional time to try and figure out how to KEEP the container border showing. Nor do they want to have to 1) Take a note THEN 2) Manually draw something around the object. Please make it so we can have the borders around the containers IF WE SO CHOOSE. I love this product and cannot wait to see this one added.

I would like to see a simple option to "always show note container borders". A visual cue that content is in different note containers (without having to use the mouse) would be a huge productivity gain.

When viewing a page, there is no way to tell if notes are in separate containers.
I often use separate containers on a single page for different major topics. Or another way I use OneNote is to have a page about a particular topic, adding notes and comments at different times about the topic and use different note containers to separate individual notes.

a slight development of the container issue is how they relate to the pagination. If we consider the metaphor of page breaks as presented in Excel to illustrate where a break will occur in otherwise continuous content, this would be a really useful addition so that containers/items etc could be moved automatically to the next page as a widow and orphan control issue.

Similarly, when drawing soemthing, being able to lock items with a container to keep individual strokes in place, so that when one transfers/prints to word, the individual strokes don't stack vertically destroying the original image/sketch would be a useful funtion to consider in finalising contain behaviour.

I don't really have anything to add, but I share in your frustration and hope that this will bring attention to the issue and possibly a solution.

Likewise frustrated that container borders/backgrounds cannot be displayed permanently. This seems to be an easy change with a huge productivity boost.
