Hand on Lab 2 - LiveID in a resource file is bad practice

I was very concerned that the HOL 2 asked you to enter your LiveID password in a resource file. Many people have very sensitive things guarded by their LiveID password (expedia, etc). A completed HOL is the type of thing someone may unthinkingly show to other people and so revealing their LiveID password. Would it be so hard to get the user to enter the password in the lab. It obviously also shows much better practice.

What is the purpose of the Microsoft.MeshOperatingEnvironment.ResourceModel.EducationProfile class? Are these values exposed in the regular Live profile somewhere or are they Mesh specific? And a concern over terminology for a global service “Use of "Major" and no mention of "University" means that his obviously heavily influenced by the US education system. Do you think its a good idea to tie the profile to one country's education system when Mesh is meant to be global?”

ParentID of DataEntries are always "urn:uuid:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000"

I have noticed that the ParentId property of every DataEntry in every Datafeed of a MeshObject has the value "urn:uuid:00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000". I also notice that you explicitly check for this value in the BuildTreeStructure method of your sample HelloWorld application. This seems really strange to me. I would have thought that that ParentId value would be the same as the Id of the MeshObject itself (i.e. MeshObject.Resource.Id). Why is that not the case?

Strange Happenings after periods of inactivity

I have seen a few instances where nothing appears to happen in the mesh live desktop when I perform certain actions. Most of these are after a period of inactivity. I am starting to wonder if there are some ajax / authentication issues under the hood that causes some of these problems. The next time I see this, I will break out fiddler and see if there are any error messages or authentication redirects on any of the ajax calls.

Loading files using Live Desktop into a Mesh folder that is not synced to Live Desktop

if you do not sync your mesh folder to your live desktop, it will still show in live desktop, but if you upload a file to it, it won't sync to your mesh folder/devices

I see there is a search box on Live Desktop right now that is currently greyed out but I guess its safe to assume that at some point you will be indexing all of the stuff in our Mesh so that we can search it. I'm a big fan of Evernote because of its ability to find text within pictures and then index it for searches. Open Live Desktop folder fails to refresh completely with large numbers of file deletions or additions on device

I have a live desktop folder synced to a client. If I add or remove a large number of files to the folder on the device (268 in my case) then the live desktop registers some of the changes but the view oes not update to fully reflect them. For example if I add the above number of files the view will update to see, say, 78 of them. Closing the folder and re-opening it has no effect on the view - switching to device view and back to desktop does show the correct changes

In the future I imagine it would be nice to be able to purchase digital content from an online retailer and, via DelAuth, let them save it directly to my music library. Unable to debug when project name contains period

Haven't seen anyone else report this... If I create a new Cloud project in VS called MyApp.Mesh, then when using f5 to debug, the wizard appears then immediately disappears. Some investigation with ProcMon showed that it was attempting to access a file called MyApp.Zip rather than MyApp.Mesh.Zip Recreating the project MyAppMesh without the period solved the problem. Same behaviour on Vista (x86) and Win2008 (x86) as dev platforms

Using the .NET API and ConnectLocal(), I am unable to enumerate the contents of the MeshObjects collection. In addition, when using the Mesh Resource Browser to browse the local LOE MeshObjects collection, I get an XML error message. Minor naming error in Microsoft.LiveFX.ResourceModel API

I came across a very minor naming error in the API in the Microsoft.LiveFX.ResourceModel namespace. The ContactEmail and ContactPhone classes have identical properties with the exception of "IsImEnabled" in ContactEmail and "IsIMEnabled" in ContactPhone. The two classes use different capitalization for the acronymn for Instant Messaging. The Framework Design Guidelines by Cwalina and Abrams indicates that 2-letter acronymns should always be capitalized - i.e. IM is correct and Im is wrong.
