Description

Liebes VSLS-Team,

D. Schunk

Not feasible to migrate Access to SQL in a lot of situations where LightSwitch would be useful (where either local SQL Server is not possible, or subscribing SQL Azure overkill) and provides a significant barrier for Access developers looking to move to LightSwitch (who may then prove a business caser for SQL Server after the fact).

Please reconsider removing this barrier.

Attach to Access isn't directly supported by LightSwitch. Our recommendation is to use the SQL Server Migration Assistant (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ssma/) to migrate your Access database to SQL Server or SQL Azure, and then have LightSwitch connect to the SQL db. This blog article (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/zaneadam/archive/2010/08/12/moving-to-the-sql-azure-cloud-from-access-or-mysql.aspx) contains some more information with links.

Thanks for the feedback.
