Our organisation is moving towards virtualised desktops, which means we access our desktop via a remote session.

When using Blend, if I click and drag a value on the properties pane, it doesn't work correctly. The changes to the property value don't correspond to the mouse movement; it's analgous to driving a car with sloppy steering.

Repro Steps? (N/A for Suggestion)

If I am holding the mouse button down on the left margin property and start moving to the right the values start moving up correctly:

1,2,3,5,7,9...

However if I now start moving left, the values continue to go up for a time, then start coming back down:

11,13,15,14,13,11,9,7...

And again, if I start moving right, the values continue to go down for a time, then start going back up again. Each time I change the direction of the drag, I have to move further to get the values to change direction. This renders the feature virtually unusable.

Oh, I see, I apologize for my misunderstanding. So, yes, I can see this issue in Blend 4 over Remote Desktop. It's actually not something we will be able to address though. I understand it's frustrating but hopefully it's something you can work around by entering values.

Apologies again,
Steve

Hi Steve,

The behaviour I've outlined is on Blend 4, so I can confirm the issue does occur there as well.

Given that Blend 4 is the highest version of Blend available for Windows XP, and XP is still supported, can we please get this issue to be assigned to be fixed in Blend 4 as part of a patch as well?

I've tried to find a more appropriate Connect site for Blend 4 but haven't been able to find one.

Hi! As far as I know this issue does not occur with Blend 4. It does occur with the BUILD release of Blend 5 but it has since been fixed in our code base so the very next time we release a preview or the RTM of Blend 5 the issue will be seen to be resolved.

Cheers,
Steve

Fantastic.

Tell me though; by "next public release" are we talking about Blend 4 or Blend 5? I'm hoping you mean Blend 4 as I'm stuck on Windows XP for the time being and can't move up to Blend 5.

Hi, thanks for filing the issue report. The 'slider' functionality in the property inspector, that you describe, did have this problem for a time but it's since been resolved. It will be fixed in the next public release.

Cheers!
