The Conduit Search Page has taken over my Internet Explorer's start up page. I have been successful in removing (replacing/overriding) it from Mozilla and Google but not IE 8, 9 or 10. I have tried all normal cleaning methods described on the web. I have tracked it down to the "Start Page" in my registry. Even when I have successfully removed all traces of "Conduit" from my computer, the "" string replaces the content of my registry "Start Page" file upon computer startup.

I have three main questions: (1) How do I prevent from replacing the content of my start page upon startup? (2) Why don't IE's settings screens and reset options override the like they do in Mozilla and Google? (3) Why aren't Window's and IE's user entered preference settings more resilient in not allowing adware, redirects... to take over?

Conduit Search is a very involved process to clean out, but the good news it can be done.
Simply uninstalling the program will not work.
I have had success following these instructions -

Thank you for your feedback.

Conduit Search does more than just change the homepage and default search. It installs itself as an Add-On in Internet Explorer so as long as it is still an add-on, it will always change the registry back in order to get control of IE upon restart. So here's what you should try and this is a possible resolution that has worked in the past. Goto Internet Options(in IE window or Control Panel) >Programs >Manage add-ons. The first section is Toolbars and Extensions. Please scroll down thru the list and verify that there is nothing related to Conduit. If there is, click on it to highlight and choose disable or remove, whichever option shows up. Now the second section called Search Providers is where the problem usually resides, so click on Search Providers and then click on Google or Bing and choose Set as Default. This will allow Conduit to be removed(it will be grayed out if it is still default), then find anything related to Conduit(maybe more than one entry) and choose remove and when finished choose close button. Now go to the Internet Options tab called General and then click on the button toward the bottom labeled Delete. Put a Checkmark on options:

1) Preserve
2) Temporary
3) Cookies
8) ActiveX filtering and tracking Protection

Then click on the delete button, it may take a moment or two to empty. Once it is done, click on Apply and Ok at the bottom of Internet Options. Close all IE windows if they are open and then goto Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program ... scroll down thru this list and look for anything related to Conduit search and uninstall it if you find anything. Sometimes there is an application installed and sometimes there is not but if you dont uninstall it, it will be back after you reboot. Now reboot the machine and launch IE. You should not see Conduit homepage or Search.
