Description

I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and when I try to open Internet Explorer, I get the message that "Internet Explorer has stopped working."
I have to use the task manager to close it.
I tried removing it and reinstalling (?) with the add or remove windows features. No Luck.

Any suggestions on how to get it working again?

Hello Captain Of the Clouds,

I apologize for the issue you are experiencing after updating. Based on what you have described you would be able to expedite the resolution by contacting our assisted support by visiting http://support.microsoft.com/ and clicking on 'Get Live help'.

If you would like to test starting IE without addons to see if something you have installed is conflicting with IE 11 you can do the following. Launch the modern browser not the desktop browser or open a command prompt and navigate to the \program files\internet explorer folder and run iexplore.exe -extoff

If IE launches with the extensions off you can then open the addon manager and narrow down which addon is causing the issue. Turn off all addons, launch IE test then turn on one addon at a time until you can reproduce the crash. If you narrow down to one addon check with the app vendor to see if they have any updates or remove the addon.

Best regards,
The Internet Explorer Team
