IE 11 fails to retain compatibility settings between sessions. When a website is added to compatibility view, the site is retained only for as long as the Internet Explorer 11 session is active. When the browser is closed and reopened the compatibility view list is empty and the site that was added during the previous session does not load properly. It can be re-added and again loads properly during the session.

When the user selects Options > Compatibility View Settings, the site loads into the "Add this website:" textbox. Clicking the "Add" button adds the site to the "Websites you've added to Compatibility View:" list. The site loads correctly as long as Internet Explorer 11 remains open. When Internet Explorer 11 is closed and subsequently reopened the site will no longer open properly, is not listed in the "Websites you've added to Compatibility View:" list and must be added again to the compatibility list to function properly during that session.

Hello grahamvb,
We have continued to test this scenario and we are unable to reproduce the issue on build 11.0.9600.17107. In the repro steps you provided a link to an OWA website. Do you need to log into the website in order to reproduce the issue? Have you experienced this issue with other websites? Are you running IE 11 on Windows 7 or 8.1?

Best regards,
The Internet Explorer Team

Hello grahamvb,
Thank you for the feedback. I wanted to check with you to find out if the issue is reproducible on your pc after installing the latest update for Internet Explorer 11. Are you able to reproduce the issue after installing the MS14-010 which will bring your build up to 11.0.9600.16518. We did not reproduce the issue you described with this build.
Best regards,
