I have two different machines running 64-bit Windows 7. Since upgrading both to IE 11, I've had frequent problems with IE crashing as I browse Github.

PS: I should add that my problem is *not* site specific - I have never been to the website that the original poster mentions. This can happen with one website tab open or eight. It's an IE problem, not a website issue.

I've had this problem for several months. I've gone as far as reformatting my hard drive trying to fix this tremendously annoying problem. Most recently about a month ago and yet the MSHTML.dll problem reappears in no time. I've uninstalled programs and it still happens. And once it starts it begins happening faster and faster. Now when I boot up and open IE 11 I get the IE must be closed message within just minutes. IE 11 has become unusable to me. The last thing that I want to do is start using Foxfire or whatever its called because I dislike it. I want my IE! How do I fix this problem so I can happily surf again?

How's this going? I found another method of reproduction, though I'm not sure if this is related to GitHub or not.

Go to When page loads, navigate away to On Windows 7 x86 (IE11), I get a crash.

This is fairly annoying - GitHub says its an IE issue. Besides, nothing should cause the browser to crash, right? :P

One method of reproduction is:
1. Navigate to
2. Click Pull Requests

IE crashes. :/
On Metro, there is no crash, but a "Failed to restore page" error pops up.

I am experiencing this on my Surface Pro as well. The page loads, IE pops up an I have crashed dialog, 'restarts' and the page renders correctly. Go to the next GitHub page and everything is repeated.
