You receive an error when trying to open the properties of an availability group. This issue can be reproduced in versions 13.0.400.91 and 13.0.600.65 and 13.0.800.111. The error you receive is as follows:

Cannot read property BasicAvailabilityGroup. This property is not available on SQL Server 2014. (Microsoft.sqlserver.Smo)

This issue was opened for CTP 2 and marked as fixed. It clearly has not been fixed. Here is the item link.

I am getting the same error when I try to right click and select properties of any database in SQL Server 2014 (12.0.2000) instance. The database properties window opens fine for SQL Server 2008 R2(10.50.4290) and SQL Server 2012 (11.0.3128) instances. I am using SSMS 2016 CTP3 (13.0.800.111).

Thanks for reporting this issue. We apologize for any inconveniences.

We have a fixed SSMS & we are currently working on getting this fix in upcoming CTP release.
