When sum of int values in field becomes more then 2 147 483 648 use of AVG function causes Arithmetic overflow error, though the result of AVG is not big (it never can overflow int value).

Server: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 23
Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int.

This feedback item has been resolved as duplicate of another one in our system. We will consider fixing it for a future version of SQL Server.

Thanks for your feedback on this issue. We have investigated this issue with the AVG function overflow and have a proposed solution under investigation. But due to the time/resource constraints, we will not be able to implement this solution for SQL Server 2008 release. However we will take this up in a future release of SQL Server. Please feel free to contact us if you have any comments/suggestions.
