Description

The pivot, ranking and numbering T-SQL enhancements are excellent. However, mySQL has one useful command that MS SQL does not -- GROUP CONCATENATE. During a GROUP BY, GROUP_CONCAT is similar to SUM except it concatenates all the combinations of the particular field for a particular aggregation. The coding workaround is a pain.

Please add this functionality to SQL server. Looks like since 2007 nobody cares about it at Microsoft team.
Can this suggestion be reopend?

I have to agree that this it is high time this very common functionality is developed.
Even the most cursory glance through online forums would reveal how often the workaround methods are used and required.

This request was in 2006, plenty of time to have added it by now. The workarounds are very clunky

Please add this to SQL Server. This would save time and also eliminate the need for bulky and complex work-arounds to express a simple and common need.

Thanks for raising this suggestion. I agree this would be a useful intrinsic. While it does not make the bar for SP2, we're tracking it for future release of SQL Server.
