I would like Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio to support resizing the splitter from the resultset window. This feature was supported in SQL Server 2000's Query Analyzer tool. It's a pain because I need to move my hands away from the keyboard and grab the mouse just to make the result window bigger or smaller. I feel that removing this feature is counter-productive.

I agree, this is very useful feature that was lost.

one comment: the last post from MS is just a standard post for "avoiding" working on issue. There is no mentioning on how critical the fix is and what type of fix is identified. The person is just identified to respond to issues and post. It is not coming from technical mouth.

I can't believe this has been closed as "Won't fix". It's annoying enough when you are on a fast connection but if not, it is sometimes downright impossible to find the magic spot where it will let you resize the frame. I don't think there is anyone out there who works in SSMS that doesn't resize the frame on a regular basis - to have us all hover around a fickle, horizontal line like patients from the geriatric clinic learning to use the mouse is almost insulting.

Hi efamilia,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft.

We have given this suggestion a lot of consideration. However, given the work that would be involved in implementing this suggestion, and triaging against our current set of deliverables, we do not think that we would be able to get to this in the near future.

However, we value your suggestions, and assure you that we would keep these ideas in mind, when we do revisit this feature in the future.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

This is an incredibly useful shortcut key and doesn't seem like it would add that much time to add back. Please add Control+B to resize the results area.

Please bring back Ctrl-B!!!!
Finding that single pixel line is incredible annoying!
I sometimes get so frustrated that I go back to using Query Analyzer.

I agree 100% with the comment, "CTRL+B is a very useful and time saving shortcut. It should most definately be included in Management Studio. "

I agree - I've been missing CTRL-B ever since we started using sql 2005. About half the time in 2005 I still try it and then curse and use the mouse to try and locate the exact single pixel where I have to click to do the resize (which is especially hard when working on remote servers across slow connections) then drag up or down.

Further to my comment in the other (similar) thread. These tricks are very important because using the mouse leads to Tendonitis and RSI. I *hate* using the mouse. So much so that I am having to evaluate other database products (MySQL, etc).

Hi efamilia,
Thank you for your feedback regarding Ctrl-B not working to move the splitter bar. We are investigating this for a future release in SQL Server. As a workaround, SSMS has a Hide/Show Results Pane command that will help. If you want to see the results full screen, you can also use the Tools | Options Query Results\SQL Server\Results to Grid/Text page and turn on the option to "Display results in a separate tab".
Thank you,
Bill Ramos
