Hi,

You should always change your service account using the SQL Server Configuration Manager. Hopefully, this should solve your problem. If not, please let me know.

Hi,

By any chance, did you change your service account through the Windows Services console instead of the SQL Server Configuration Manager? Or did ou play around with the permissions on the "C:\Documents and Settings\[service account]Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA" folder? You might want to try to use temporarily start the service under Local System or a local administrator to see if the problem goes away. If so, then there is a permission problem somewhere.

The information in this posting make help you resolve your problem: http://blog.geekpoet.net/2007/09/sql-2005-wont-start-upgrade-install.html
