I'm just putting in a vote for intellisense in SQLCMD mode of SSMS. I have sqlcmd mode turned on by default, and now I don't have intellisense at all.

I understand turning off intellisense when scripting variables are being used, but when scripting variables are not used, or don't affect the current query, intellisense should still be available.

Greetings from the SQL Server Manageability team.

Thanks for writing in to Microsoft. We greatly value your feedback.

IntelliSense does not recognizes SQLCMD mode, if we enable it for SQLCMD it will show errors which can confuse the user. Hence By Design we switched off IntelliSense in this mode.

Having said that, we value your suggestions, and would like to assure you that, we would keep this idea of enhancing IntelliSense to support SQLCMD mode in mind, when we do revisit this feature in the future.

Thanks again for providing feedback and making SQL Server the greatest Database server.
