Description

I'm trying to install SQL Server 2008 on my Windows 7 workstation using my MSDN disks. I get to the Setup Support Files stage where I click Install. Then I get an error message:

TITLE: SQL Server Setup failure.
------------------------------

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object..

I can send the log files, but they're pretty dense.

Hello gdana,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the failure you experience installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. We have attempted to re-produce this error in our test labs. Unfortunately, we have not been able to re-produce it.

Given this, I am going to resolve this bug and “Not Reproducible”. Please feel free to re-activate this bug if you disagree. Alternatively, you can contact me directly via email (dalaqab-at-Microsoft-dot-com).
