Description

I'm working on a project and have a code very similar to the code attached, if the try catch is removed the dm_fts_parser will result in a 15 severity error complaining about fts search string syntax, however when the select is executed inside a try-catch block the code will silently return an empty recordset, no error is triggered and catch block is never executed.

I have posted this problem in SQL Server forums (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/transactsql/thread/cbf7759e-ddb4-4f28-9bbe-8678239658df/) and in other forums and there is some consensus for considering this a bug, some guys event tested this same code with different sql server 2008 editions obtaining different results.

Despite bug title, I'm not sure this is related to a specific problem with dm_fts_parser

Note that the issue does not appear with SQL 2008 RTM, so this appears to be a regression bug.
