Description

Hi,

A very popular lineage technique (certainly in places I have worked anyway) is to add a column called [LineageId] (or similar) to every table in a data warehouse. This column would be populated with a value that uniquely identified the ETL load in which the row was last updated.

If using SSIS Denali it would make total sense to use SSIS' ExecutionId for this purpose although unfortunately this ExecutionId is not available in the packages.

One thought - any reason this is a variable rather than a project-scoped parameter?

Fantastic, that's really good news. Thanks.

Hi Jamie,

Thanks a lot for your feedback for our new product. We already added a new system variable called "ServerExecutionID" to access execution id during server execution. You will see it in the final Denali release. If you still have any question or suggestion, please feel free to let us know.

Again, thanks for your support to SQL Server. Looking forward to hearing more feedback from you!

Regards,
Xiaochen
