I've encountered this bug on a few of my servers now.

Source        Server

* ex_handle_except encountered exception C0000005 - Server terminating

This is on the following version of SQL Server 2008 R2 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 OS:

Source        Server

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2500.0 (X64)
    Jun 17 2011 00:54:03
    Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation
    Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (Hypervisor)

We are going to apply SQL 2008 R2 SP2 and see if this helps the condition, but it seems to be sporadic...

Dear All,

I am facing a same problem.

I have install SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 (32 bit) on Windows Server 2008 (32 bit). I updated it to CU 4 which was released in Jan.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (SP1) - 10.50.2796.0 (Intel X86) Dec 9 2011 11:32:47 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 6.0 <X86> (Build 6002: Service Pack 2)

But still i am facing same problem.

Can you please help me on this.

Thanks for the feedback.

We have analyzed the issue and it looks like a bug we already fixed in one of the hotfixes that's done since SQL Server 2008 R2 was released. You could install cumulative updates (the current one is CU6: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2489376) to get the fix. The fix would also be included in SP1 (not released yet).
