Description

Currently besides PerfMon PageSplits/sec counter and page_split event in Extended Events we don't have any way of monitoring page splits. It would be extremely helpful to have this info in sys.dm_db_index_operational_stats DMF. Also it would be very helpful to distinguish between split types like it is already implemented in extended events page_split event in Denali. Split at 50:50 rate and allocation of a new page have entire different meaning for performance, so counting them together is misleading.
