Description

The property "HideMemberIf", which is needed for P/C hierarchies, cannot be set in user hierarchies in Denali PowerPivot CTP3.
It would be necessary to add it so that blank rows are removed from ragged hierarchies.

Hi Folks,
I'm facing the same issue.
Do we have any luck in hiding/ignoring the empty nodes in P/C hierachy.

Hi,

Any update on this? In SSAS Tabular we can use BIDS Helper to set the HideMemberIf property (http://bidshelper.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Tabular%20HideMemberIf).

Is there a way to do this in PowerPivot for Excel?

Would be much appreciated by a lot users.

Kind regards,

Frederik

Colin,
I agree that "Member" cannot be used in Tabular, "Item" sounds much better.
For what concerns the different options, I think that there are too many options available in SSAS, they would be misleading in PowerPivot (and Tabular). Empty name looks fine, because P/C functions provide an empty name when the hierarchy is "ended", SameAsParent might be useful too in many scenarios. Nevertheless, maybe this can be discussed further with other guys, because they might have different opinions on that.
Beware that automatic removal of empty nodes does not work with P/C hierarchies, because children have always some data. Moreove, this automatic removal needs a NONEMPTY, which might be avoided if the hierarchy settings are working.
Thanks.

Given that the term "member" doesn't exist in the lexicon of PowerPivot or Tabular Models (except in the context of role "members"), we should use another tem, like "HideItemIf," since the "Item" is used in PowerPivot in the same context as "Member" is used in cubes). Alberto doesn't make it clear whether we need all of the hide options of HideMemberIf. If not, perhaps blank items in "ragged hierarchies" (a term also not in the lexicon of PowerPivit/Tabular Models) should be removed automatically.

Thanks Alberto for filing this with us.

We will take a look.
