I upgraded the SQL tools on a management/terminal server to SQL Server 2012 RC1. I can connect to all versions of SQL [2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 RC0/RC1] from the SQL Server 2012 RC1 SSMS tool and the "Activity Monitor" works for all versions *except* a backend SQL Server 2012 RC0 instance. When I view the "Recent Expensive Queries" it does not keep historical data but rather refreshes with the most recent data, based on the refresh cycle.

My problem is that when SQL Server 2012 RTM comes out I will not be upgrading my backend SQL instance to RTM but I will upgrade my management/terminal server to RTM. I need to be able to effectively monitor, using "Activity Monitor" all versions supported.

Based on our investigation, the reported issue is not repro on SQL Server 2012 RTM. The only way right now to get the fix is to upgrade your SQL12 RC0 backend install to RTM. We can't provide separate fix for RC0, all ongoing patches for SQL 2012 are targeting RTM+ releases.

Thank you
