Slicers can be lost from the "Slicers Horizontal" and "Slicers Vertical" sections of the PowerPivot Field List in Excel.

Changing the values selected in the slicer often still updates the PivotTable / Chart though it is no longer possible to manage the slicers using the PowerPivot Field List.

The attached files are a full repro for the issue, including video. The Model.xlsx file is the broken one (i.e. that results from following the steps shown in the video). The Model_working.xlsx file is the one that is used from the start of the video (i.e. before the issue occurs).

I have managed to replicate this issue on the PP2012 CU2 update.

Please could somebody advise how can submit an attachment to illustrate the PowerPivot chart design environment which seems to have
a) 2 different modes
b) slicer related problems
both of which frustrate the development and use of slicers.

I also experience this problem.
The efficiency of the design and production environments are seriously affected by this near fatal flaw in otherwise excellent functionality.
Please could you provide a MS update on when, how and if this can be resolved, be it in a future release or a workaround at earliest opportunity

Please also see comments / issues posted re this 'disappearing slicer' issue in May, 2012...

To repeat, the only (very PAINFUL) 'solution' that I have found to deal with this problem -- is RECREATE (from SCRATCH) the PP PTs... Even then, sooner or later, MOST PP PTs seem to have the SAME problem (i.e., disappearing slicers)...

PS... I have hit this issue numerous times before now without understanding the full causes. If you have a workbook that you use regularly, it is common to open it and immediately enter the PowerPivot window to perform a refresh without clicking on any of the PivotTables / Charts.
