I have an Excel file with cell protection that I want to use a source in SSIS. Unfortunately SSIS gives me an error when I'm using it as an source: Could Not Decrypt File

Have also posted a question in the SSIS forum, but I believe this is a bug.

I have used 32bit, tried imex=1 and tested it in SSIS 2005, 2008 and 2012. It works when I remove the cell protection or when I keep the file open in Excel (not a workaround on a server).

Thank you for submitting this feedback. After carefully evaluating all of the bugs in our pipeline, we are closing bugs that we will not fix in the current or future versions of SSIS. The reasons for closing these bugs are following:
1.     The fix is risky to implement in the current version of the product
2.     Scenarios reported in the bug are not common enough
3.     A viable workaround is available.

If the issue is a critical business interruption, please call CSS (Customer Support Services).

Thanks again for reporting the product issue and continued support in improving our product.

Even xls might be outdated we have sometime to load a buch of old excel files - they won't go away :)
There is no way to open tousend of xls-files for removing password protection from worksheets

Please have an eye on this!

SSIS doesn't have the same problem with XLSX files... only XLS.
