We have a database project for which we are trying to compare the output dacpac file to another dacpac file that is extracted from a database. Using VisualStudio2010, we select the Source and Target schemas and click Compare but the Compare never completes. The progress bar shows: Loading schema from source and target..., but never progresses from there. For us, it is isolated to this one project/database dacpac comparison. We have other project/database pairs for which the schema compare completes successfully.

We've had the same result using VisualStudio2012 and every machine we've tried it on. We have the latest SSDT update from December 2012.

Hey eajolley,

Thanks for reporting this issue around schema comparison hanging when loading the models from source/target dacpacs. We have had other reports of this issue and have since taken a fix for the root cause. Look for this issue to be fixed in an upcoming release of DACFx, the engine that sits underneath SSDT and powers Schema Compare.
