Currently Power View only supports numeric measures. Any measures that do not return a numeric data type are not available in the metadata pane. Adding support for non-numeric measures such as dates and strings would open up a whole raft of possibilitiies such as reporting on maximum or minimum dates for events.

It seems like with variant measure support being added for DAXMD, this shouldn't be very difficult to add to Power View on top of Power Pivot or Tabular models.

Supporting text measures is important. Please prioritize.

Refer to the examples here for a date and string related measure https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/784965/tabular-dax-measure-not-available-in-power-view-field-list#details
