execution counts for sys.dm_exec_procedure_stats and sys.dm_exec_trigger_stats list occasional inflated numbers both when compared to sys.dm_exec_query_stats (matched on plan handle) and when compared to known business logic . I can reliably reproduce with trigger stats (scripts and instructions not attached, please contact me so that i can send them.)

though i cannot reliably reproduce with proc stats, i flush the plan cache daily and capture stats before doing so. i have examples of procs that actually execute once a day suddenly listing 50,000+ executions a day for several weeks, then settling back down to 1.

a more formal analysis of today's data (script more than 2000 characters, not attached) indicates @270 procs out of @2100 with a single entry in query stats where the execution counts vary by over 2%. in some cases, the variance is hundreds of thousands of times higher. This has been demonstrated to David Pless, Senior PFE when he was on site last week. the script to demonstrate analysis of current values is included on the ticket. please contact me for additional documentation i was unable to attach here.
