When using SSDT to manage a large database project (~5000 objects), attempting to build or publish the Database results in Visual Studio taking >10 minutes to validate the project model.

Smaller DBs seem to validate in well under a minute. However this long period of validation renders the DB project virtually unuseable for large scale DB management.

this post you have for a workaround or fix does not work. My TFS project has been validating the project model..... for over an hour. What in the world is it doing and how can we fix this?

I've got a modest sized schema (740 object) and this is quite slow for me (>3 minutes). VS 2013 doesn't show any updates needed, and version 12.0.30501.00 Update 2.

Thank you for the feedback. We have made some performance enhancements that may have helped. We have seen databases much larger than this build under 5 minutes. However, results may vary drastically, depending on the complexity of your schema. Try downloading our latest release from to see if the performance improves.
