Description

I am using SQL Server 2012 (11.0.3339) in my environment with 16GB RAM, where 4 GB is allocated to SQL Server and when I opened the SQL Management Studio and tried to create the Databases; the Management Studio Stopped working and gives the following error in popup window.
"The activity Monitor is unable to execute queries against server "SQLSERVERINSTANCE". Activity monitor for this instance will be placed into paused state. Use the context Menu in the overview pane to resume the activity monitor." 

When we press OK, next message appear as "Failed to retrieve data for this request".
In additional information: Time out expired.

What could be the issue? Please suggest.
