I'm running SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU4

@@version is
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3368.0 (X64)

Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.0 <X64> (Build 6002: Service Pack 2)

I'm trying to run the Database Tuning Adviser, but after a while I get the following error:

Read our privacy statement:

I've tried this four times, and all failed with the same error above. I'm creating SQL Profile logs on disk using the Tuning template. I'm filtering so that only my target database's transactions are saved. The files are anywhere from 300MB to 1GB.

Just out of curiosity I captured a few transactions which came out to 5MB. That actually ran in the DTA without producing an error message. So it isn't something that happens every time (at least for a very small dataset.) But is happening consistently with my larger data samples. I've looking online, and in this knowledge base, but haven't been able to find a solution.

Sucks that this was closed I've had this problem happen on every version of SQL currently 2014 still have the app crash and no one knows why.

I've got the same error with 1Gb trace files. DTA & Tuning advisor both crashed after several hours of work. So it is not a problem of specific trace, but some internal bug.

As mentioned, we have been unable to reproduce. Without any file, we will have to resolve the item.

Hello Dav. We will be unable to reproduce this behavior without one of your trace files. Please let us know if you can provide us with your data. Otherwise, we'll have to close "no repro."

I tried using a rolling trace file, set to 50MB. After 5 were saved I tried running DTA, but it still is crashing in the same manner.
