Description

Trace Flag 2371 was a huge advance to statistics sampling in SQL Server 2008 R2, but it would be extremely useful to know more about those thresholds (ex: with this 2371 flag enabled, EXACTLY how many rows need to be updated in order to trigger the automatic update of statistics in a 1-million row table? What is the equation?)

Also, it would be useful to set the % of rows changed to trigger the statistics update in specific tables. I have a nightly job that update the statistics in some extreme-DML tables, but if i could set this thru Management Studio, it would be great.

There's this explanation: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/srgolla/archive/2012/09/04/sql-server-statistics-explained.aspx - looks like it's indeed SQRT(1000 * NumRows)
