We have a database in an existing project. We used to compare database schemas (e.g. between development db and test db) using a third party tool. This tool added new columns that were added to existing tables, at the end of the table in the test database.

Now we've imported the database schema from the development db into VS in a database project.
If we compare the project to the test database, all the tables that had colums added to them in the past show up as a difference.

Bing tells me there used to be an option called Ignore Column Order, but that it was removed in favour of a more powerfull, but unimplemented feature.

Hi Jan, thanks for this suggestion. Unfortunately at the present time this feature doesn't meet the bar for planned future improvements. We may reassess this in the future but for now I am going to close out this request as "Won't Fix". Regards,

Kevin Cunnane,
SQL Server tooling team.
