In VS 2008 and earlier we could design sql in the designer and then execute it in the designer for a quick test. Now we're forced to use SSMS to access the query designer but in most cases the Execute Query button is disabled. The only time we can execute the query is when we right click on a table in the Object Explorer and right click Edit Top 200 Rows. From there we can click on buttons to show the various designer panes (http://www.functionx.com/sqlserver/Lesson16.htm).

I NEVER design queries from here and am always working on complex SQL in stored procedures. We need to be able to simply select some text in the stored procedure window and then do a right click and select Design SQL for a query window that lets us execute the query (as we could in VS 2008).

Thanks for the feedback. We'll keep this item active so that other members of the community get a chance to see it and provide their own input. We'll keep an eye on it as we plan the next big things for SQL.
