Description

System.Data.Linq.DataContext.DatabaseExists() fails with SQL Compact and |DataDirectory| macro.

When using the DataContext DatabaseExists() frunction to check if a SQL Server Compact database exists it fails when the |DataDirectory| macro is used. Other than that the DataContext works just fine.

A possible related issue is that DataContext DatabaseExists() function to check if a SQL Server Compact database exists fails when the sqlce file name has an extension other than .sdf (that is a custom extension). See the discussion at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/379f38b4-b697-4c40-9418-a96e7270578d/custom-data-file-extension-with-linq-datacontext?forum=sqlce.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to send this feedback and bug report. We have reviewed the issue and confirmed the behavior, but we will not be fixing this in the next release of LINQ to SQL.
