The ability to remove a component of a project without deleting from source control is key to moving a file in source control to another project.

Dragging an item in solution explorer from one project to another copies it (useful), but sometimes one wants to move it, while retaining SCM history. To do this one would expect to remove from the source project, move in source control (retaining history) and then add existing item to the destination project.

Thank you for your suggestion, Garuenwolf. We have run out of time to address this issue in the current release but it has been noted as an area of definite improvement for future releases.

Thanks!

It's possible the move files from Source Control Explorer with a workaround.

Exclude files or folders from your project. Close your solution. Undo deleted files and/or folders (who was deleted after the exclusion). Move files or folders from Source Control Explorer. Reopen your solution. Include files or folders in destination project. If you get an error telling that your files or folders already exists, do a "Get Specific Version", check "Overwite all files even ..." and "Overwrite writeable files ..." to be sure.
