Description

C++ project files do not load properly if their ProjectConfiguration ItemGroup is defined in an imported file, it only seems to work if defined in the project file itself. This is not the case for any other properties or items in the .vcxproj -- at least not that I've found yet, and I've been able to move everything except the ProjectName, ProjectGUID and ClCompile ItemGroup out to shared .props files -- so this seems like an abberation.

This is very troublesome, as it makes it extremely difficult to properly manage hundreds of project files that need to share a common build. To add new configurations to hundreds of .vcxproj files, I need to modify every one of them, rather than just the common .props file that they all share.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing feedback. We understand that this is a limitation of our current design during evaluating projects in VS2010. Unfortunately we will not be able to fix this in the VS2010 RTM release. We are postponing the bug and will revisit for the next release of Visual Studio.

Thanks,
