Description

When a helpprovider control is used in a Windows Forms application and the application platform target is set to Any CPU (and the machine is running a 64bit OS) or x64  then the help message location is wrong when the help message is shown.

Here are two examples of this bug:

The platform set to x86

This still happens in VS2010 SP1 almost 3 years later.

Are there any plans to incorporate this fix into previous .NET releases, via Service Packs or something?

We are able to reproduce the bug that you reported and have had it fixed since VS2010 Beta2. You could download Beta2 bits from Microsoft download center and verify the resolution.
