Description

Since VS 2005, when VS is launched if you press the Shift key add-ins loaded to load on startup are not loaded, which is good to prevent this problem:

PRB: "Could not copy temporary files to the output directory" error building Visual Studio .NET add-in.

This doesn't seem to work in VS 2010 Jan LCTP

Hello Carlos,

Yesterday I created internal bugs to track/route each of the issues you reported to me. (Sorry, I didn't yet send a reply as I was in the process of writing a single response to you.) However, I do have an answer for this bug:

This change is by design to avoid conflicting with the Windows 7 gesture of Shift+click to launch a new instance of VS. We received a number of reports of Add-ins failing to load that were traced back to this feature. To get the same behavior, you’ll need create a shortcut that calls devenv with the /SafeMode switch.

I will be resolving this bug as By Design.

Thank you,
Suzanne Hansen, Program Manager, Visual Studio Platform Shell Team
