Is there an update on this? I experience the same, I can not add anything to my toolbox now. After I opened the dialogue, I can not close it any more. It is possible to add components, but the dialogue does not close and after the forced process kill, the component is not in the toolbox. I am using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimateon Vista business 64 Bit:

I have uploaded an AVI (Zipped with WinRar) which demo's the issue.

The Screen resolution is very low in order to make the video as small as possible but the issue does occur on any resolution.

To update you, this is on a system with only Visual Basic selected for installation. No other packages at all are selected during the VS 2010 installation.

Thanks again for your feedback!
But we don't see this behavior you mentioned on Visual Studio 2010 RTM. Could you please attach a video to verify the scenario?

How can I create a dump when the application is responding, but I can't close a dialog box? I can create a dump before the issue occurs if you want but thats not going to help you much.

Please try it in the IDE - you will see for yourself!

Thanks for reporting the issue.
Could you please provide us with a mini dump file? You can get detailed steps about how to get the dump file at :

It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with that information as quickly as possible.

Thank you,
Visual Studio Product Team.

It works, if I do not load a solution and add the component directly to the "General" tab in the Toolbox.
