Description

If I click on "Data > Schema Compare" menu option in VS 2010, the VS just closes. No errors, no event log, nothing. This only happens when I try to open the Schema Compare the first time during the lifetime of the VS instance. Same goes for Data Compare option as well. The only way I can make it not crash is by choosing the "Data > Transact SQL-Editor" option first so that it connects to some database, any database. Then I can close the SQL-Editor window and use the schema and data compare functionality.

Hi Perhar,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We believe that this is an issue with the Solution Navigator extension in the Productivity Power Tools. You can easily disable this extension by going to Tools Options Pro Power Tools and turning off the Solution Navigator. We are hoping to publish a new version this month which addresses this issue.

Thanks!

In order to fix the issue, we must first reproduce the issue in our labs. We are unable to reproduce the issue with the steps you provided.

It may help if you provide us with a dump file and call stack.
