If you use message inspectors to inject custom http headers to RIA Services calls from the Silverlight client, the server response - although valid - results in either an operation exception on the client, or leads to a complete crash of the Silverlight plugin.

This bug only applies to Firefox 3.6.4 or higher, and only if the plug-in isolation feature of Firefox is turned on (it's turned on by default). With Firefox 3.6.3 or lower, the isolation feature turned off, or other browsers, this error does not occur.

The problem does not occur when only plain WCF (no RIA Services) is used to achieve the same.

This bug has been filed in the Firefox Bugzilla database as issue #574171, and apparently forwarded to Microsoft, see here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=574171

Sorry about the confusion. We're actually resolving this as a duplicate of the bug you brought to our attention last year. If I'm not mistaken, you discussed the details in more depth with Jeff at that time. We are still tracking this issue. For now your best options are the following.

- Turning off Firefox OOPP (Out of Process Plug-Ins) in firefox config. The issue will no longer repro (http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2010/08/16/enable-silverlight-debugging-in-firefox-visual-studio.aspx).

- Use the Client HTTP stack rather than the Browser (https://betaforums.silverlight.net/forums/p/188434/433866.aspx).

If you have any further questions, feel free to reactivate this bug.

Can someone please comment on why this now has been changed to "Closed as External"? What is external in that case? Does this mean it will be handled by the RIA Services team, or expected to be handled by the Mozilla team (which I'm pretty sure won't happen)? Thank you.
