I think WPF has a serious drawback compared to Silverlight, and my main point is the lack of integrated support of WCF RIA services as Silverlight does.

Unfortunately the resourcing has not been made available to do this by Microsoft. Web API, WCF are still fine solutions and recommended for a service-based architecture. Additionally, RIA Services is open source now.

In the interim of not having RIA Services extended to WPF, is there a recommended approach to Enterprise N-Tier application development using a WPF client?

Reiterating my colleague's sentiment: Has this EVER seen the light of day? .... We still think RIA in WPF would be great!

Just wondering if this ever saw the light of day now that v_next is out... Still think RIA in WPF would be great!

Shame on you guys. WPF really deserves WCF RIA client-side generation of entities and validation just like Silverlight does!

Thank you for your interest in WPF and WCF RIA Services. At this point, we are focusing heavily on Silverlight and JavaScript clients and do not have resources to broaden the client reach further. Some of the project system hooks we rely on in Silverlight are also not available in Visual Studio at this point. Should the resource/schedule situation change, we would love to add support to WPF.

As a start I would be happy with RIA Services for WPF which should include improved validation support and bug fixes on DataGrid validation (search datagrid validation on this site)

@Dinesh, 70% of my post focuses on MVVM for both Silverlight and WPF.

Do you believe that RIA services will be supported in WPF at next release?

Thanks for your response.
From now on, I will use WPF only for small applications that do not use external data resources, otherwise, I will use Silverlight with RIA as an Out-Of-Browser app.

Thank you for taking the time to log this feature requests. At this point, WCF RIA Services V1 and V1 SP1 are focused on Silverlight and will not be supporting WPF. We are still working on defining the priorities for RIA Services v_next. Among several inputs, we will consider this request and similar ones on RIA Services forum and feature voting site.

Thanks again.
