We have a community request on offline Webmatrix installer. When will the product team provide this?

A distributed installation file is more convenient and internet bandwidth saving.

What about a website or page giving all information including download links for offline webmatrix installation. I am not sure if its already there.
I am thinking to create a website http://webmatrix.gaurishiv.com for this purpose. I hope its not illegal.
Let me know your feedbacks, as it should be ready by evening.

Check it for your review: http://webmatrix.gaurishiv.com

The "Web Platform Installer 1.0" is said to include the following (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=11865):

* IIS Web Server
*    Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition
*    SQL Server Express Edition
*    .NET Framework
*    IIS Extensions (such as FTP 7.0 and URL Rewriter)
*    …and more

IIS Express: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=1038
Visual Studio 2010 Express: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/express
Visual Studio 2008 Express: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2008-editions/express
SQL Server Express (2008R2): http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/en/us/editions/express.aspx
IIS Extensions are available at: http://www.iis.net/download

and "...and more" is a sucky description indeed.

Offline stand alone installer for Web Matrix, IIS Express will be welcome...
I dont like gave permissio to an application to go on the net... download things... and install it...
If this applications have dependencies (like dotNET 4.x) they shoul be stated... and the developer
will take the decision to continue or not...

Greats,,, ZEE

The Installer that Mike Danes pointed to is indeed an offline installer for WebMatrix. However, WebMatrix needs other components installed to function correctly, and those are all pulled in by Web Platform Installer automatically. In that sense, the true installer is not really "offline".

If you use Web Platform Installer to install WebMatrix, take a look at the installed components that come with WebMatrix - there should be download URLs for all of them.

If this is not sufficient, I would recommend posting your concern in the Web Platform Installer forum here:

Or the WebMatrix Connect site here:

Thank you for your comments!
