Description

We don't use online help from within VS, nor do we allow it. All help system files must be loaded locally on the developer's system. With that being said, it is impossible to use the help system within VS 2010 if you are doing any kind of web development or any of the other types of development that make up the 90% of the library that is missing.

When will the full MSDN Library be available for offline use?

Hey Paul - Any update on the status of this? In about 2 weeks I will be working offline for about 6-8 weeks with little or no Internet connection. While setting up a new laptop I discovered a worse issue that is not related to help(https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/715441/visual-studio-settings-file-growing-without-bounds), but I'm hoping it can be resolved quickly.

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill - thanks for logging this bug and the other postings you've made to a few blogs and discussion forums. I want to assure you that you've gotten our attention. We're still working through an action plan as to how we may address the issues.

It seems pretty straightforward from the outside, but this actually has impact across the entire company with respect to all the partner teams that contribute content to MSDN. I will not close this bug until we have a plan of action in place that I can report back on.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Paul O'Rear
