When trying to add new data source generated from database, after choosing option "generate from database" the expected dialog doesn't show - nothing happens.
No error message, no feedback from Visual Studio about what the problem is.

The problem was in full Application Event Log. After clearing the log using Event Viewer everything got back to normal

Hi pstrejczek ,

I am a Program Manager with the SQL Server Data Tools team and I just wanted to close the loop with you on this issue. Unfortunately, we were not able to reproduce the issue on our side. We believe that this is caused by a machine setup issue. Please try reinstalling a fresh environment and seeing if the problem is reproducable in a new, clean environment.

We are closing this issue for now, but don't hesitate to reopen it if you find the same behavior agian or other issues.

I think the problem is not in machine.config, but with full Application Event Log. When generate from database produces error which should be inserted into Application Event Log and the log is full - nothing happens. There is no feedback.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us with that information as quickly as possible.

Thanks you

Thank you for reporting this issue. Unfortunately, we are unable to reproduce the issue with the steps you provided.

What do you mean by "Some mistakes in machine.config generating error entry in event log"?
Could you please provide us with an copy of your machine.config file?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide us this information as quickly as possible.

Thank you
