Description

A simple WPF application reproducibly locks up whenever the keyboard layout is changed from English to Russian using the key combination Alt+Shift+2.

Also happens in .NET 4.5 beta.

I have received reports that this also occurs with Punto Switcher, which is a program for automatically changing keyboard layouts. As soon as Punto tries to switch layouts with the WPF program focused, the WPF program locks up irrecoverably.

If only there was a work-around for this!

Yeah, totally... what’s up with that kind of useless response? We’re already largely unmotivated to report any issues at all since they’re always closed as “won’t fix”, but to just be told “we won’t address this” as if from an impenetrable bureaucracy is just not on.

I won’t be recommending WPF to anyone for development of new applications!

Can you at least say a couple of words about the reasons? WPF no longer a priority so bugs like this are irrelevant?

I independently reproduced this problem on a separate computer by installing the Russian keyboard layout with the given keyboard combination even though I don’t customarily use multiple keyboard layouts. Interestingly, the issue occurs ONLY if the Russian layout is activated directly via Alt+Shift+2, but not if it’s activated via the Alt+Shift switching command.
