Description

When compiling SSDT projects with Visual Studio 2012 RC on a machine that has been upgraded from Visual Studio 11 BETA and had the SSDT tooling for Visual Studio 2010 installed, the compile results in the error message:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\SSDT\Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.SqlTasks.targets (386): The "SqlModelResolutionTask" task has been declared or used incorrectly, or failed during construction.

This is caused by the Microsoft.Data.Tools.Utilities.dll not being installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DAC\bin.

Via another channel I did heard back from Rolf Huisman and the repair suggested at the link provided did address the issue, even though the symptom was unique. We'll get the article updated and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing for you folks going forward. Thanks again for letting us know what issues you're running into.

Hi Rolf -

Sorry you're running into troubles. Although We have one known updgrade issue around DACfx installation that is easy to try even though your symptom is a bit different. The solution (repair) is documented here:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ssdt/archive/2012/06/07/upgrade-issue-to-visual-studio-2012-rc.aspx

Either way, if you could let us know if and what versions you have of DACfx installations listed in Add Remove Programs?
