Description

The Solution Configuration combo box on the Standard toolbar in VS2012 is too short to distinguish our configurations.
We have configurations for Debug, Release, Unicode Debug and Unicode Release. When we've selected Unicode Debug for example, the combo box is too small and only "Unicode" is displayed. We can't determine if the currently selected configuration is Unicode Debug or Unicode Release.

Ideally, the combo box would be widened. Alternatively, showing the configuration in popup text when the mouse is hovered over the control would help.

I lived with this issue for many years, before realising it's actually really easy to fix.

You just have to change the configuration toolbar's width in the Configuration dialog, as described here:

(Aren't screenshots useful...!!)

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, at this stage in the product cycle we are unable to address this for the current release as we are only taking critical bug fixes. We have copied your suggestion to our product backlog and will bring it up during next version planning

Thanks,

Sorry, I see this is a duplicate of bug 746741 which includes a workaround.
